Modiji and Elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had enough of lying in India, that he started lying in our neighboring country Bangladesh. I sometimes wonder what Modiji’s speechwriter smoked before writing that ridiculous speech. For context, Modiji visited Bangladesh where he delivered a speech before the Prime Minister, ministers and the people of Bangladesh. He said that he protested for the freedom of Bangladesh, for which he was even sent to jail. “I must have been 20 to 22 years old when I and my colleagues did a Satyagraha for the freedom of the people of Bangladesh,” he said. First up The Indian Army and the Mukti Bahini fought together against the Pakistani army for the freedom of Bangladesh which is known as the Bangladesh Liberation War. The Indira Gandhi government during that time had signed a treaty with the USSR (India-USSR Friendship Treaty) which assured support to India in the war by the Soviet Union. The reason behind the treaty was that America and Pakistan were allies and that they would have overpowered the Indian army. Though this would have benefitted India in the war, the American media started misreporting on the treaty. which showed that Bangladesh would not gain Independence because of this step. The right-wing under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee started protesting against the treaty after receiving the news. Due to this many protesters were jailed. So logically if the treaty was revoked the Pakistani Army might have never surrendered.

It is a bit ironic that Modiji said that he protested for this and that and on the other hand called the protesting farmers parasites. Also, if you don’t know, protests were conducted against PM Modi’s visit to Bangladesh. Four people lost their lives in those protests. People protested because of the intolerant attitude of the Modi government against Indian Muslims. In 2018, Amit Shah had pronounced Bangladeshi immigrants as termites and had even said that he will throw all of them in the Bay of Bengal and this guy is now the Home Minister of India.

MOVING ON….

The West Bengal and Assam elections are underway and in some day's time Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry elections will be held. Since election dates were given out the mainstream media started their propaganda against the left-wing parties. The state of West Bengal is one of the states where the BJP has never won. Before Mamata Banerjee’s TMC, the CPI(M) had won all the elections and it was the longest communist rule in an Indian state (33 years). So now the BJP is trying pretty hard to win this election and the mouthpieces of the ruling party have been doing their job perfectly. But there have been differences within the party itself, the party supporters are very skeptical about the leaders that have been chosen by the party since they have come from TMC itself. This lead to protests by the party workers outside their own shakhas. Kerala elections don’t look good for BJP because people don’t vote for religious politics there but for development.
